Dimensionals is a Roguelike Turn-Based Deck-Building Hero Collector. It might seem like a lot, but this mix of genres results in fantastic and addictive gameplay. And, you’ll be able to get your hands on it once it releases in Early Access on November 18th.
I got a Playtest Code to play before it went live, and it was a blast! After having my fill with this short demo, I was eager to keep playing the full release and also excited to see the rest of the story.
Now let me tell you why you should be excited too as I briefly explain what Dimensionals is and highlight some of its distinct mechanics.
What is Dimensionals?
Dimensionals has the vibe and style of a Saturday morning cartoon, with a colorful and diverse character roster. The Dimensionals are beings from across the multiverse, united under a single goal: to defeat Ragnarath, the tyrannical king of the Specter Ragnarath.
In the full release, you’ll get access to the entire campaign, where, hopefully, the forces of good will triumph! But for now, I can only discuss the Master Raid, which was the only mode available besides the Tutorial.
In this mode, you choose 3 Heroes to form a party and attempt to defeat waves of enemies until you reach a final boss. A balanced party usually consists of a Tank, an Attacker, and a Healer.
Each Hero has their own stats and skills, which come in the form of cards. These cards can be obtained randomly after each level, purchased from the Shop, or even gifted to you.
But since everything is random, you might not get the skills you were hoping for. However, similar to Vivid World, you can stack duplicate skills and spend gold to upgrade them.
Progressing is ChallengingLan
Progress in a roguelike always means facing higher difficulty levels. Occasionally, you’ll encounter mid-bosses that are unexpectedly tough and leave you regretting your decision to take them on.
By the end of my first successful raid, I felt proud of myself, as it wasn’t an easy task. This challenge made me want to keep getting better. However, since the demo had limited heroes and modes, I decided to wait for Early Access.
Is Dimensionals Worth It?
It’s worth considering purchasing in Early Access once it releases, if the story keeps up its quality and we get all the promised Heroes.
I’m rooting for its success, and good luck to the developers!
