I don’t have a dedicated gaming room, but I have a home office where my girlfriend and I work. Coincidentally, it’s also where I store all my geeky items, from gaming consoles to action figures and various other accessories.
In this space, I need to strike a balance between work and play, so my gaming setup isn’t overly flashy. However, I’d still love to share the my Gaming Room Accessories and Decorations I use in 2024!

Standing Desk
Every setup begins with the desk, and there are plenty of options to consider. In my case, I needed a spacious desk with a monitor stand, and it had to be a standing desk. I recently purchased a budget option from Amazon Spain (not available on Amazon.com sorry), and though I was initially skeptical, I ended up loving almost everything about it.
It offers plenty of space as I wanted, and the monitor stand is perfect for storing my controllers underneath. The standing functionality works smoothly, but there’s a minor issue, the desk wobbles slightly at mid to max height.
I’m almost certain this happens because I opted for the largest size, so it’s something to keep in mind if you’re considering a similar setup.
Other than that, it’s a great standing desk you can get for cheap.
Desk Mat
To avoid scratching the desk, a mat is essential. I’ve been using the Razer Goliathus Chroma for years now, and I love its LEDs and the customizable lighting through Razer’s software.
After three years of use, the lights still look sharp, but the mat has noticeable wear in the area where I use my mouse.
If you want to preserve the mat, you can always get a cheap mouse like I did.
Silent Mouse
I’m not one to invest in high-end gaming mice, so the one I use is perfect for daily work and gaming.
The only criterion I have for a mouse is that it needs to be silent since I share my workspace with my girlfriend. I found a great budget option on Amazon. It’s lightweight, and responsive, and the battery lasts for ages, needing only a monthly charge.
I’ve been using for more than 2 years and it still functions perfectly.
My Most Used Controller
Other than the Nintendo Switch, I also own an Xbox Series S, a Steam Deck, and a gaming laptop. While I love the Switch Pro Controller, it’s a hassle to use for other platforms, so I stick with my trusty Xbox Series S controller.
I bought it before even owning the console because I was fed up with cheap controllers that didn’t pair correctly or lacked game support.
With this controller, I’ve never needed third-party software to map my buttons, and that alone makes it worth it. The only downside is that it’s a bit loud and clicky.
Also, since it uses batteries I advise you to purchase a rechargeable battery like I did. Just be mindful that the charge slowly!
Docks
I love playing fighting games on my Steam Deck, thanks to the JSAUX Dock. It lets me keep the Steam Deck easily accessible while connecting it to my gaming laptop.
I liked this concept so much that I replicated it with my Switch using a Pokéball-shaped dock. It’s minimalistic and perfect for playing and charging, though it lacks an HDMI output. If I need to connect my Switch to a monitor, I just use the standard dock.
Microphone And Stand
I’ve had an Audio Technica Microphone that my girlfriend and I bought years ago and recently decided to include it in my setup by purchasing a cheap mic stand.
Note: I couldn’t find the exact same model since mine is a bit older, the link contains the most recent AT2020 with USB.
It may not be gaming-specific, but it gets the job done, whether for playing games with friends or recording audio for short-form content. The sound quality is crisp, and using a filter improves it even more.
For a more gaming-oriented option, I’d recommend checking out the HyperX Microphone. My brother has one, and I’ve had the chance to try it out In terms of quality I’d say it’s in the same range as the one I use!
Posters And Frames
Posters are a must for any gaming setup, and mine is no exception. I’ve had several posters for years but recently decided to upgrade by framing them. I regret previously sticking them to the wall, as they would start to wrinkle and eventually fall.
With my new Tears of the Kingdom poster, I decided to invest in a frame. They can be pricey, but I found an affordable option on Amazon that rivals budget frames from Ikea.
Keyboard
No setup is complete without a keyboard. For years, I used a Designer Compact Keyboard from Microsoft. While it’s not a gaming keyboard, its minimalist design fits well in my gaming space.
Recently, I upgraded to the MK Star61 from Magege. It’s not perfect, but for it it gave me plenty of room to mod it to my liking. The aesthetic suits my current mood, and it motivates me to be more productive!
And That's All!
Although I don’t have a dedicated gaming room, with these items I can my home strike the balance between work and gaming that I was trying to achieve.
There are more items and other decorations I use around the office but these are the Gaming Room Accessories and Decorations I use in 2024 to help me feel well in my space to be productive either at work or during my gaming sessions!
