Yesterday I picked up my copy of Pokémon Black 2 and remembered how much fun I had with it, especially trading and battling online, and that made me wonder, ‘‘Is it possible to play Pokémon Black 2 online in 2019?”
If you used to play Nintendo DS games online like Pokémon or Mario Kart you probably already know that a couple of years ago the Nintendo WFC shutdown, making it impossible to play online any Nintendo DS game
Impossible as it may be, that didn’t stop me from doing a quick Google search on the subject. And, as I typed and searched ”Playing Pokémon Black 2 online in 2019” the very first page that appeared was of a Reddit post explaining how to get around the Nintendo WFC shutdown!
All you have to do is go to your Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS Connection Settings and alter the DNS. It seemed too simple and good to be true but as I went to try it out it actually worked, I could trade Pokémon in the GTS and even battle people online, although it took a while to find someone. Also, you can use this method to get access to event Pokémon that are no longer obtainable!
I’m glad that there are smart people out there that can figure out a solution for something that at first seems impossible. However, it’s still difficult to find someone to play online since not many people know of this! I really hope this information spreads out more so we can have a healthy online community again for 4th and 5th gen Pokémon games!
As you can see there is a way to play Pokémon Black 2 Online in 2019, so what are you waiting for? Spread the word!
P.S.: This doesn’t seem to work with all Pokémon Nintendo DS games, although I can go online with Black 2 and Heart Gold I can’t with Pearl or Platinum!
